Twelve youngsters from across Cornwall, Devon and Wales have been selected by the British Surfing Association for the British Junior Surfing Team for the 2008 Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championships which take place in the South West of France from the 24th May-1st June.

It was an early start on Saturday morning for Irish surfers competing in the Denny Irish Surfing Championships with the first heat in the water at 8.00am at Tullan Strand. With the wave forecast for Sunday looking poor event organisers were eager to complete the event in one day.

THURSO, Thurso East, Scotland (Tuesday, April 29, 2008) – Adam Robertson (Victoria, AUS) became the third O’Neill Highland Open by Swatch Champion today, coming victorious after another 23-heat marathon day. Robertson, who surfed through five heats to eventually clinch the prestigious Highlander sword trophy, defeated Adam Melling (Gold Coast, AUS) in glassy three foot (one meter) waves at the world class venue of Thurso East.

The highly successful Bude Surf Classic, organised by Surf Spot Bude and run by Christian Surfers UK, has attracted new sponsorship for 2008 in Gecko, Surf Relief, North Shore Backpackers and Raven surf School. Following a highly positive meeting last week the Newquay Boardriders Club (NBC) is on a mission to grow and develop its vision and membership. This coming Thursday, 1st May will see an AGM taking place between 7pm and 9pm. The hope is that the AGM will formalise the committee structure and terms of reference for the newly elected officers as well as discussing a range of exciting future club development and events.

Team Great Britain is currently on its way back from Peru where they put on a strong performance at this years World Masters Surfing Championships. The team came 14th out of 17 teams in an event that saw some monstrous two to three metres plus surf.

One of Europe’s top pro surfers has been appointed Patron to the British Surfing Museum.

Groms Head Off On Green Exchange Scheme

Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) campaigners spent a January afternoon recovering 80 ‘Baxters’ medical bags that washed up at Sennen Cove, Cornwall. The bags were also reported on beaches on the Isles of Scilly, Marazion and Flushing, near Falmouth.
