Crantock has a variety of peaks, with good lefts at the south side
of the beach, various beach breaks in the middle or strong hollow righthand waves at the mouth of the river.
Just over the River Gannel from the madness of surf city Newquay, Crantock has a happy family vibe in the summer. There's a National Trust car park with plenty of room for all. The Trevella caravan park and campsite up the top of the village provides great access to the waves and is surfer friendly, just a hop over the fields and down the dunes. Plenty of other accommodation including a couple of hotels. There's loads of room to learn to surf and it's less crowded than nearby beaches. Roads are narrow so drive slowly. A great place to visit for a surf if you're based in Newquay or surrouding beaches. Try Holywell and Perranporth Beach for more family-friendly, big beaches with tons of swell-catching potential.
