Coldingham
Bay is an east north easterly facing beach break, which enables
it to work from large north westerly swells, medium to large north
easterly swells to easterly swells right round to a south easterly,
which means it will pick up most of the swells going around the
east coast and is offshore in westerly winds. A clean beach with a good little wave and some good lefts.
Close enough to Edinburgh to warrant some weekend warrior wave surfaris, Coldingham Bay provides a good safe bet where there are waves about. A short surf trip here can be done on a budget, with accommodation generally being self-catering or camping style. There are still surf shops and schools to be had, but this is a quieter surfing outpost, ideal as a base for a surfing holiday exploring what the north east and Scotland has to offer surfing-wise.
