Manorbier

Tenby, Pembrokeshire

South west facing beach, this small bay has been known to produce some classic days surf with a view of the castle.

Manorbier is mainly a beach break with a reef break on the right hand side of the bay. It's more sheltered than other south west facing beaches at high tide because of the cliffs on either side of the bay so can be worth a look when other spots are big and blown out. It generally works best on the push and at high tide in big swells. Close outs are common at low tide and the wave is surprisingly heavy.

Pembrokeshire is the perfect place to take a summer surfing break – less crowded than the more well-known spots and with the National Park and Coastal Path providing plenty of chance to explore loads of breaks. Accommodation and surf school options abound. Freshwater West is the jewel in the crown, a large and unspoilt beach with peaks all along. If you know what you’re doing, surfing the local reefs, beachies and wedges will provide all the thrills you need. Camping is king around here, but there are loads of friendly surf hostels and Bed and Breakfast options. Check out Oakwood theme park for flat day fun, and check out the surf shops in Haverfordwest or St Davids.
