Oxwich can be surfed on all states of tide, but is best at high tide and can get choppy when the wind is from the east/south east, but is clean from all other directions. Oxwich is popular with surfers, especially longboarders, and also kayakers, kitesurfers and windsurfers.The Gower Peninsula is the perfect place to take a summer break, with nearby Llangennith always popular due to the cheap camping, caravanning and bed and breakfast options. Three miles of sands mean that there’s always somewhere you can learn to surf without running into anyone. The Gower was the first place in Britain to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1956, and offers the antidote to the Cardiff to Swansea post-industrial landscape.
