A sheltered spot for surfing on the Gower when strong onshore wsw winds are blowing everything else flat. There is a huge range of peaks, for all levels of surfer. At the top of the tide you can get some very short rides on the shorebreak, lefts at Rotherslades and both lefts and rights on The Reef.Langland is always crowded and is home to some quality surfers, so stay off the main peak unless you’re an expert. A beautiful bay which is quite sheltered, but mind the rocks and rips! Make sure you check out Hot Dog Surf Shop if you’re in Swansea.
Surfing in South Wales offers the chance to experience surf breaks in the city and out on the beautiful Gower Peninsula, all of which are within a day's drive. Loads of options mean you can be in a surf lodge just metres from the break (and nightlife!) one night and camping next to the beach the next.
Surfing’s is mad popular in Wales now, and the university cities of Cardiff and Swansea mean that the more obvious breaks get crowded out fast. Check out the Surf Directory maps for access to less well-known spots. Wales is the ideal place for a surfing road trip, but be considerate on the narrow lanes and watch where you park.
