Okay, so there's no surf in Aviemore but there's plenty of outdoor pursuits to keep you busy!

From mountain biking to hill walking, snowboarding to kayaking, quad biking to clay pigeon shooting and a range of unbelievably beautiful walks almost everywhere you go, Aviemore and the Cairngorms is the perfect centre to take activity holidays or short breaks in Scotland.

Tips

There's plenty of thrills to be had in the forests and lochs where terrific new bike trails like the Laggan Wolftrax guarantee you'll get up close and personal with the scenery or splash out on the waters of Loch Insh where every kind of water sport is on offer all year round. If you want some low intensity time then why not try a relaxing walk in the Caledonian pine forests or a round or two of golf on the banks of the Spey, or just sit back and let the huskies do the work as you take a ride at the sled dog centre.
