Polzeath

Wadebridge, Cornwall

Polzeath
Polzeath is very popular with surfers and holidaymakers in the summer and is suitable for all level of surfer. Situated between two low headlands, it is a popular and consistent west-facing beach break which works on all tides although works best from low to mid tide and holds up to about eight feet. On smaller days and at high tide, there are slowish lefts and rights are ideal for beginners and those wanting to give surfing a go. When the swell is big, there is a right hand point off Pentire Point and it's also worth checking out Daymer Bay.

During the summer, Polzeath can be extremely busy and it's often a good idea when the surf is good to get there as the sun's rising or in the evening as people leave the beach. There are numerous surf schools in Polzeath along with surfboard and wetsuit hire, surf shops and food shops all situated at the entrance to the beach.

New Polzeath is located to the right of the main beach in the direction of Pentire Head, where you can sit outside the Atlantic Hotel with a drink in hand and enjoy the stunning views over the bay and the camel estuary to Padstow and beyond to Trevose head Lighthouse.
