Portrush is Northern Ireland’s surfing capital and has beaches on either side of the town. It is situated on a mile long peninsula extending into the Atlantic Ocean on the North coast of Ireland.

East Strand is sheltered from westerly winds but needs a big swell to break; it works on all tides and can get really good on its day with powerful barrels. Holds up to eight feet. In the middle is Blackrocks, a great but fickle lefthand reef for advanced surfers only. Needs a northwesterly swell to work and southwesterly winds to fire. West Strand beachie is more consistent than East Strand; it faces northwest and works on all tides.

Portrush offers all the facilities you would need for a family surfing holiday or a base to explore the surrounding area from. Within the town there's a selection of indoor venues which include Waterworld, The Dunluce Centre, the Coastal Zone,'Barry's Amusements' and a choice of restaurants, cafe's and bars. A 3km stroll along Curran Strand (East Strand) will bring you to White Rocks where you can continue by footpath to Dunluce Castle.
